Repetitive Strain Injuries
Repetitive strain injury (RSI) is an injury to musculoskeletal and nervous systems. Repetitive Strain Injury is also known as:- repetitive stress injury
- regional musculoskeletal disorder
- repetitive motion injuries
- overuse syndrome
- repetitive motion disorder (RMD)
- occupational overuse syndrome
- cumulative trauma disorder (CT)
The following are believed to cause RSI:
- repetitive tasks
- sustained or awkward positions
- vibrations
- forceful exertions
- pressing against hard surfaces
- Short bursts of excruciating pain in the back, shoulders, arms, thumbs, wrists and hands.
- A worsening of pain with activity
- A lack of endurance and/or weakness
