Need to Cancel or Reschedule?
At First Hand Healing, we understand that unexpected events or circumstances may press you to miss your scheduled appointment. However, in respect for the practitioner and other clients, a 24-hour notice is requested to cancel or reschedule your appointed treatment. Late cancellations, with the exception of extreme emergency or illness, will result in a $40 fee. This fee will be waived if your appointment can be filled by a relative, friend, or colleague you wish to send in your place, or if we can fill this time for you.
If a practitioner should have to cancel your appointment within 24 hours, we will give you an additional 1/2 hour to add to your next scheduled massage or credit you the added time of a half hour you would normally pay with your treatment.
Missed or "no show appointments" will be charged the fee of the "scheduled" treatment time or will forfeit the appointment in cases where it has been prepaid.
This cancellation practice has been created in fairness to other clients who are waiting to receive treatments and the practitioner who has reserved time and prepared for your scheduled visit.
Scheduling
The time for your treatment is reserved for you. It is our desire to start your appointment on time so you will not have to wait. Mutually, we ask that you arrive on time so that we may extend the same courtesy to the next client.
We regret that late arrivals may not always receive extensions of scheduled appointments, but we will ensure that your remaining time is beneficial.
If you should arrive earlier than your scheduled treatment and your practitioner is not yet available, please make yourself comfortable and remember common courtesy by keeping noise levels low.
Confidentiality
All information discussed or received by any client of First Hand Healing will be kept confidential. Details of any client information will not be released or revealed unless the client has given permission to do so.
It is also our practice that your personal information such as name, postal and email addresses, as well as telephone numbers, be kept private and confidential. Accordingly, the personal information you provide is stored in a secure location and is accessible only to First Hand Healing and its associated personnel.
If you asked to be on our mailing list, we may contact you for anything from special announcements to special gifts.
Massage and Your Insurance
Massage may be appropriate for medical conditions such as injury rehabilitation or pain management. Medical massage is an outcomes-based treatment that is performed under the direction of your physician. In most cases, treatment for injuries sustained in an auto accident or work related incident will be covered under the associated insurance policy. A prescription for massage with a specific diagnosis from our physician is required for insurance coverage.
Our office does not directly bill your insurance for auto accidents or work related injuries. You will be responsible for payment at the time of treatment and your Practitioner will provide you with your forms for reimbursement.
If you currently participate in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA), your tax free contributions to the plan can be used for qualified medical expenses not normally covered by health insurance, including massage or muscular therapy treatment. Although prescriptions are not always necessary, we recommend asking for a prescription from your physician for your FSA/HSA approval. A prescription for massage or muscular therapy may ensure your treatment to be considered therapeutic and medically necessary. Some FSA/HSA programs provide a debit/credit card to use for medical expenses, which deducts the funds directly from your account. If this is not the case for you, we will be happy to provide a receipt with the necessary information for you to submit a claim for reimbursement.
At this time, we do not directly submit claims to health insurance due to the inconsistency of coverage for massage therapy. However, healthcare is rapidly changing. Insurance companies in several states (e.g., FL and WA) include medical massage as a covered benefit on most policies. Additionally, many other insurance policies offer special provisions, discounts or add-on coverage for massage and other complementary treatments. We encourage clients to check with their health insurance provider to see if benefits are available to file for reimbursement of treatment fees. Even if your claim is denied, each submission increases insurance company awareness of the medical necessity.
Medical Release
Some health conditions, acute or chronic, may require a consent or medical release from your health care provider.
Massage and Disabilities
At First Hand Healing, all our treatment rooms are handicap accessible.
Illicit Behavior
Massage/bodywork services are a therapeutic health aid and are non-sexual. Any illicit, sexually suggestive remarks or advances will result in the immediate termination of the session and client will be liable for payment of the scheduled appointment.
